If you've driven through Happy Valley during the past several years, you have no doubt noticed this man's angry face looking down at you from a billboard with some smart-ass saying on it encouraging you to pay attention to The Free Capitalist.
His name is Rick Koerber (sort of, his name was originally Claud Roderick Franklin) and on his website he proclaims himself to be Capitalist, Mormon, Dad.
Today the Salt Lake Tribune reports that Koerber has been indicted for allegedly running a $100 million ponzi scheme. This being Utah County, it was also a multi-level marketing ponzi scheme, in which you earned more interest by getting your friends and family to join up under you.
Lovely.
The least shocking part? Connor Boyack is Facebook friends with Rick Koerber! Also, Connors beloved George Wythe University has put up a blog post meant to distance its founders from Koerber, who has business ties to them.
All joking aside though, I hope that Connor hasn't lost a ton of money so that Mr. Free Capitalist can drive around in a fancy sports car for a while and make bad movies. Please Connor, tell us that you didn't invest with this guy.
